Naturally since Facebook is all about feeding MY ego, I am in the center.
My largest concentration of photogenic friends is the cult of Lars in blue at the bottom. I've always thought SuccessFactors was full of good looking people (just ignore Joe's abnormally huge head there and shift your attentions over to Julija or Amy).
The pink cloud on the upper right is the Silicon Valley group which morphs clockwise from Eug's crew (not only is Eug a social instigator, but he's thankfully always carrying around a camera), through my friends by marriage, to my family in orange.
The Bell Boys represent up top in purple, but they are largely disassociated.
Finally we got the great Andrew Moss in yellow standing tall all by his lonesome for Cornell. Go Red!!!!
What is up with the Mudders, CMC'ers and Cornell folks? Well Mudd is too lame to get their own network or school on facebook, so they ought to just roll in with the CMC'ers. Yet they are under-represented. I see Sponnie out there in Silicon Valley land. Still it doesn't explain why the 5% of my facebook friends from Cornell are not listed.
This is all pretty cool. Perhaps, I'll have to futz with the many settings the TouchGraph Java app offers. You should download the app and play around with it as well.

Missing my college buds, I re-rendered the image increasing the "Show XX top friends" variable.
Apparently TouchGraph employs a ranking algorithm and defaults the initial render to 50 friends. From the Help Screen:"Friends are assigned a Rank so that one can reduce clutter by only showing a set of 'Top' friends. TouchGraph gives the highest rank to friends who are connectors between different cliques. Finding connecters involves a metric called Betweeness Centrality which is an established measure for a person's importance within a social network."
Good to know that Bex is my highest ranking friend. Sad to know that Odd Todd is my lowest ranking friend. Blue Bathrobes forever Todd!!!!
